10th Moharram is a day of mourning for all Muslims. The tragic incident at Kerbala where the righteous Hussain refused to submit to the autocracy of Yazid is an event laden with deep symbolism. Hazrat Imam Husain and his faithful companions preferred to die on the banks of river Euphrates and upheld the struggle of good against the evil.
Khawaja Muinuddin Chisty’s powerful verses epitomise the reverence and devotion of Muslims towards Imam Hussain:
Shah ast Hussain, Badshah ast Hussain
Deen ast Hussain, Deen Panah ast Hussain
Sardad na dad dast, dar dast-e-yazeed,
Haqaa key binaey La ila ast Hussain
Loosely translated
Ruler is Hussain, Emperor is Hussain,
Faith is Hussain , guardian of faith is Hussain .
Offered his head and not the hand to Yazid.
Truly, the mirror of faith is Hussain

Growing up in Pakistan, the night of Ashura was always defined for me by the Majlis i Shaam i Gharibaan (often by Allama Naseer ul Ijtihaadi) on PTV on the night of dasveenMuharram, which was followed immediately – and at right about midnight – by Syed Nasir Jahan’s soulful recitation of Salam-i-Akhir.

Jo chal basay tou yeh appna salam-i-akhir haiHis soulful voice, so pregnant with a deep and heartfelt pain, always echoes in my head when I read of continuing sectarian violence and the instigation of sectarian hatred.
However, the ugly face of sectarianism is now haunting the entire Islamic world. There have been deaths in Pakistan recently and I have forgotten the number of people dying each day in Iraq. Forgotten? Yes, it sadly increases by the day..
And the true spirit of this sacrifice by Prophet’s family gets clouded by politics and imperial projects.
And for the poor Iraqis, Kerbala is not an event from their distant past.

A good article pointing to the yazidiat of now a days in the form of sectarian violence. Islam is divided into yazidiat and husainyat. Those who follow the path of violence, actually are the followers of yazid. Whereas, those who follow the path of peace are the followers of Imam Husain (AS). I heard one Mualana rightly saying that we should not be the mourners of Imama Husain (AS) but we should be his followers.

Just read your write up on Ashura. The last line of Khwaja’S RUBAEE may be loosely translated as ‘Indeed, Hussain is the foundation of Lailah (the declaration that none but God is absolute and almighty).
The sacrifice in Karbala reconstructed the religious thought in Islam, redefined faith, restored the dignity of human being, created a rich idiom for the discourse on truth, and finally led to evolve theological development in Islam.
The tragedy in Karbala encouraged intellectual discourse on the freedom-determinism debate. Abu Sa’id ibn Abi al-Hasan Yasar al-Basri emerged as the first one to announce that man is totally responsible for his actions. He argued this position in a letter to the Umayyad caliph ‘Abd al-Malik. “His letter, which is the earliest extant theological treatise in Islam, attacks the widely held view that God is the sole creator of man’s actions”. His letter indicates that in early Islam theological disputes centered around struggle against monarchy, despotism and oppression.
The debate which started after the Karbala tragedy matured in to the intellectual wrangling among Mu’tazila -trying to give a rationally coherent account of Islamic beliefs- and Ash’ariyya-reacting against the excessive rationalism of the Mu’tazila.
Imam Hussain showed that one can remain committed to The Ideals in adverse of the circumstances. Truly it is for us to follow but we unfortunately tend to follow mundane ideals.

যেকোন নতুন বছরের প্রথম দিন অর্থাৎ নওরোজে আনন্দ-উৎসব পালনের রেওয়াজ থাকলেও আরবী নববর্ষের ক্ষেত্রে তা ঘটেনা। পহেলা মহররম এলেই বিশ্বের প্রতিটি মুসলমানের মনে ১০ই মহররমের কারাবালার হৃদয় বিদারক ঘটনার কথা নতুন করে ভেসে ওঠে, নেমে আসে শোকের ছায়া। হ্যাঁ মহররমের ১০ তারিখেই এজিদ বাহিনী, বিশ্বনবী হযরত মোহাম্মদ (সাঃ)-র প্রিয় দৌহিত্র ও বেহেশতে যুবকদের সর্দার ইমাম হোসেন(আঃ)-কে নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করেছিল। এ ঘটনা শুধু ইসলামী ইতিহাসেরই করুণ ঘটনা নয়, বিশ্ব ইতিহাসেরও সবচেয়ে মর্মান্তিক ঘটনা। সেদিন ইমাম হোসেনের সাথে শহীদ হয়েছিলেন তার আত্মত্যাগী অনুসারীদের প্রত্যেকেই। বিশ্বের প্রতিটি প্রান্তের মুসলমানরাই রাসুলে খোদার প্রাণপ্রিয় দৌহিত্রের শাহাদাতের ঐ ঘটনা আজও শ্রদ্ধাভরে স্মরণ করেন। মহররম মাস এলে সে স্মরণের মাত্রা আরো বহুগুণে বেড়ে যায়। বাংলাদেশ, ভারত ও ইরানসহ সমগ্র বিশ্বের মুসলমানরা মহররম মাসের শুরু থেকে দশ দিন, এবং অনেকেই চল্লিশ দিন পর্যন্ত বিয়ে-শাদীসহ আনন্দঘন অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজন থেকে বিরত থাকেন। কারবালার হৃদয় বিদারক ঘটনার শিক্ষা সবার মাঝে জাগরুক রাখার জন্য ইরানে দশ দিনব্যাপী বিভিন্ন শোকানুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। ইমাম হোসেন(আঃ) ও তার সঙ্গীরা শাহাদাতের মাধ্যমে যে শিক্ষা দিয়ে গেছেন,এসব শোকানুষ্ঠানে তা তুলে ধরা হয়। ইরানিরা আশুরার শোককে শক্তিতে পরিণত করার মাধ্যমেই এ দেশে ইসলামী বিপ্লবকে বিজয়ী করতে সক্ষম হয়েছে। আসলে ইরানের ইসলামী বিপ্লব হচ্ছে ইমাম হোসাইন ( আঃ) এর আন্দোলনের অব্যাহত ধারা ।
ইমাম হোসেন(আঃ)কে হত্যার মাধ্যমে আপাত দৃষ্টিতে ইসলামের শত্রুরা বিজয় অর্জন করলেও আসলে বিজয় পেয়েছে ইমাম হোসেন ও তার আত্ম নিবেদিত সঙ্গীরা। ইমাম হোসেন (আঃ)-র শাহাদাত বরণের মধ্য দিয়ে মিথ্যার বিরুদ্ধে নতুন করে সত্যের বিজয় সূচিত হয়েছিল। তাই সেদিন থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত যেখানেই সম্মান,মর্যাদা,বীরত্ব ও প্রতিরোধের কথা ওঠেছে, সেখানেই ইমাম হোসেন ও তার সংগীদের সংগ্রামের কথা চলে এসেছে। মহররম মাসকে এজন্যেই বীরত্ব, সংগ্রাম ও প্রতিরোধের মাস হিসেবে অভিহিত করা হয়। বিশ্বনবী হযরত মোহাম্মদ(সাঃ)-র কলিজার টুকরো ইমাম হোসেন(আঃ)-র আত্মত্যাগের কারণেই আজ আমরা সত্য-মিথ্যার পার্থক্য করতে পাচ্ছি। মিথ্যার বিরুদ্ধে সত্যের আন্দোলন করার সাহস পাচ্ছি। তিনি শহীদ হয়ে ইসলামকে পুণরুজ্জীবিত করেছেন,সত্যের বিজয় কেতন উড়িয়েছেন, অন্যদিকে এজিদ সেদিন বেঁচে থেকেও পরাজিত হয়েছিল। যেমনটি মাওলানা মোহাম্মদ আলী জাওহার বলেছেন,
কাতলেহোসেন আসল মে মার্গে ইয়াযিদ হে
ইসলামযেন্দা হোতাহায় হারকারবালা কে বাদ
অর্থাৎ হোসেনের মৃত্যু আসলে এজিদেরই মৃত্যু
ইসলামপুনরুজ্জীবীতহয়প্রত্যেক কারবালার পর ।
ইমাম হোসাইন ( আঃ) এর শাহাদতের বিশেষ তাৎপর্য ও এর সুদুর প্রসারী প্রভাবের কারণেই হয়তো ইরানের ইসলামী বিপ-বের রুপকার ইমাম খোমেনী(রহঃ) বলেছেন,
কুল্লু আরদিন কারবালা-কুল্লু ইয়াউমিন আশুরা ।
অর্থাৎ,প্রত্যেকভূখন্ডইকারবালা আর প্রত্যেক দিনই আশুরা।
ইমাম হোসেন(আঃ)কে হত্যার মাধ্যমে আপাত দৃষ্টিতে ইসলামের শত্রুরা বিজয় অর্জন করলেও আসলে যে সেদিন ইমাম হোসেন(আঃ)ই বিজয় অর্জন করেছিলেন-তা আজ আর কারো কাছেই অস্পষ্ট নয়। ইমাম হোসেন(আঃ)-র শাহাদাতের মধ্য দিয়ে মোহাম্মদী ইসলাম পর্যুদস্ত হয়ে গেছে বলে যারা ভেবেছিলো তারা পরে দেখতে পেল, তাদের সে আত্মতুষ্টি স্থায়ী হয়নি। ইমাম হোসেন (আঃ)-র শাহাদাতের মধ্য দিয়ে ইসলামের পতন ঘটার পরিবর্তে ইসলামের নব উত্থানের পথই প্রশস্ত হয়েছে। বর্তমান যুগের এজিদ চক্রের বিরুদ্ধে যে অন্তহীন লড়াই চলছে, সেটাও প্রমাণ করে, কারবালায় ইম্মা হোসেনের ত্যাগ ব্যর্থ হয়নি। তার আদর্শকে ভিত্তি করে সত্য-মিথ্যার লড়াই অব্যাহত রয়েছে । (সংগৃহীত: রেডিও বাংলা তেহরান)

A woman, as a mother or as a wife, sometimes even as a daughter, plays a pivotal role in a family. Family is considered to be the oldest institution and according to Islam, Adam and Eve (peace be upon them) the ancestors of human beings started a family life on earth. Due to deviation from the divine teachings a family these days cannot play a significant role in shaping the character of its members and that cause adverse effects on the societies, the nations and the whole world. Sociologists mention deferent functions of a family and among these educational function is regarded as one of the important function. The family provides the basis for the child’s formal learning. It gives the child his basic training in the social attitudes and habits important to adult participation in social life. The manner in which he learns how to get along with his family will be carried over to his interactions with school authorities, religious leader, the law enforcing agencies and other agents of social control. When the child grows up, the function learns to manage situations outside the home and family, and his dependence on the mother, father and other family members starts reducing.
The family is a centre for the religious training of the children. The children learn from their parents various religious virtues. At present in many places religion does not get proper weightage inside a family, nevertheless a family as a center of religious quest has not thoroughly been uprooted from all societies. The family still teaches the children the religious values, moral precepts, way to worshipping God etc. Even today, it is the family which lays down the foundation of moral standards that guide the children throughout their life. The family meets the spiritual needs of its members. It is through the family that the religious inheritance is passed on the next generation.
Family is regarded as the foundation of Islamic society. The peace and security offered by a stable family unit is greatly valued, and seen as essential for the Spiritual growth of its members. To keep the family in the right track i.e. nourishment and maintenance of spirituality and morality, a woman as a mother or as wife is to play a crucial role.
If a woman does not play her due role as a mother or situation does not allow her to perform her duties and responsibility properly, the children have to come across grave consequences. Form a British and American investigation on social factors favouring juvenile delinquency it is revealed that nearly 50% of the delinquents come from broken families (Rao, Sociology, p. 544). The broken homes and families, lack parental affection and securities, absence of a loving mother in the childhood or an affectionate mother substitute, lack of family ties, parental irresponsibility’s and a height rate in divorce, desertion and separation are all contributory factors to delinquency. Interaction in home is a very important means for socializing the child. The mother plays vital role in this regard. If the relation between mother and father is ceased, it has an advance effect on the total growth of the child. In such a situation a child is not deprived of mother’s love but also parental control and becomes an easy victim to the outside anti-social influence.
In respect of piety and spirituality man and woman were given equal status in Islam. Allah has not made any discrimination between male and female as it is mentioned in the following verses of the Quran: “If any do deeds of righteousness, be they male or female and have faith will enter Heaven, not the least justice will be done to them” (14:124)
“For Muslim men and women, for believing men and woman, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and woman who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah’s remembrance for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and reward (Al Quran 33:35).
Moreover, in an environment where retaining of faith was very difficult a woman set the example of ideal believe, that noble lady was the wife of Pharaoh, Asiya. About her as is found in the Quran: “And Allah sets forth an example to those who believe, the wife of Pharaoh: behold she said: “O my Lord! Build for me,in nearness to thee, a mansion in the Garden, and save me from Pharaoh and his doings, and save me from those that do wrong” (66:11).
This verse of the Quran strongly admires the piety and spirituality of Hazrat Asiya And about the piety and spirituality of Mariam (Mary), mother of Hazrat Isa, a number of verses are found in the Quran. In one verse he is termed as “one of the devout (Qanitin) (66:12). A Yusuf Ali explaining this says that the fact that Qanitin (devout) is not here in the famine gender implies that the highest spiritual dignity is independent of sex i.e. in the realm of spirituality physical identity is not a factor.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spoke of four perfect women: They are Hazrat Asiya, Hazrat Mariam, Prophet’s wife Hazrat Khadija and his daughter Hazrat Fatima Zahra (S.A.). We have briefly mentioned the Quranic view about Hazrat Asiya and Hazrat Mariam.
Hazrat Khadija’s contribution to the prophetic mission was unparallel. She was a tower of strength to the Prophet (SAW). When he received his first revelation in the cave of mount Hira and was much shaken, it was Khadija who gave him courage; she stood by him and was the first to embrace Islam – in this respect Allah blessed a woman to supersede men. All through his life, the Prophet (SAW) cherished of the memory of their relationship, and until her death he did not take another wife. In later years when Hazrat Aisha, his youngest wife, expressed jealousy about his continuous fondness for Hazrat Khadijah he rebuked her and said “I cherish her memory because she so loyal to me. When people belied me, she believed in me, when people afraid to help me, she stood by me like a rock; she was my best companion and bore my children.”
From the above statement of the Prophet (SAW), it is revealed that Hazrat Khadijah was not only the first to accept Islam but a staunch believer in that mission and also strongly supported the new religion in all odds and tribulations. So her role in the family of the Prophet (SAW) is unique as she kept the environment of the house Allah– believing and Allah -friendly, and that had a great impact on her family members and those who were close to her. Not only that her strong support seriously helped in the continuous spreading of the religion of Allah. Her best reward and achievement in the path of Allah is that her daughter Hazrat Fatima (SA) is crowned as the saiyyedatanunnisa-e-ah lal jannat (leader of women in paradise). As the teachings and life styles of Hazrat Fatima (SA) are the key points of our paper we would like to discuss these with elaboration later.
We would like to through some lights on what we understand by spiritual development. But before clarifying this we are to explain some key-concepts related to the universe where man lives in. On the origin of the world philosophers have different opinions. Those who believe the ultimate reality is something spiritual are known as spiritualists and the doctrine, they propagate is known as spiritualism, It is also known an idealism. This doctrine emphasizes ‘spirit’ or mind prior to matter.
On the other hand philosophers who uphold that the ultimate reality is something material are known as materialists and their doctrine is known as materialism. Materialism is just an opposite view of spiritualism. The term ‘materialism’ may be defined in various ways: as the theory that extended, self-existent atoms of matter in motion are the constituent elements of the universe, and that mind and consciousness – including all physical processes are mere modes of such matter and are reducible to the physical elements; as the doctrine that the universe can be fully interpreted by the physical sciences. Materialism discards the idea of creator of the world and the notion of creation.
Modern Materialism holds that the universe is an ultimate material entity that the universe, including all matter and energy (motion and force) has always existed and will always exist; that the world is a hard tangible, material objective reality that man can know. It holds that matter existed before mind that the material world is primary and that thoughts about this world are secondary. (Charles S. Seely, Modern Materialism: A Philosophy of Action, P.7)
If we just look at the doctrine of materialism we notice that it contradicts the religious belief of creations. Islam and all the theistic religions believe that Allah created the universe out of nothing. So in religion primacy lies with Allah, the Supreme Being, the Supreme Spirit. Before creation only His Being was existent. Family everything will become non-existent, his supreme power brought non-existent into existence. Only, His Majesty will remain existent in this regard the Quranic view:
All that is on earth will perish:
But will abide (for ever) the face of they Lord –
Full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour (55:26-27).
So, religion endorses spiritualism as the philosophy of creation. Behind the creation there is a philosophy which has been disclosed in divine scriptures and sayings of the prophets (peace be upon them).
Allah has created man as his vice-gerent (Khalifah) and in this connection the Quranic verse is: Behold, thy Lord said to the angels, “I will create a vice-gerent on earth) (2:30).
This concept of vice-gerency is clarified in the following verses:
Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: “I am about to create man from clay: “when I have fashioned him and breathed into him My spirit, fall yet down in prostration unto him.
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together.
Not so Iblis: he was haughty, and became one those who reject faith. (38:71-74)
From the above verses it is clear that man possesses the spark of divine spirit. In another place the human spirit (ruh) has been mentioned as the divine command (Amre Rabb).
This clearly indicates man is a spiritual being and highly dignified and sanctified in origin. But due to ignorance, he sometimes makes violation of that great responsibility and trust. This has been mentioned in the Quran in the following verse:
“We indeed offer the trust to the Heavens and the Earth and the Mountains; but thy refused to undertake it, being afraid there of; but man undertook it; he was indeed unjust and foolish.” (33:72)
Materialism, as we have already mentioned, is a philosophy which disregards all religious beliefs. As according to it there is no creator of the world, the world is eternal. So the adherents of this philosophy are after material gains and enjoyments. The impact of this atheistic philosophy is visible every where. Communist states were established on the basis dialectical materialism of Karl Marx which was claimed to be the advanced form of Materialism. Though western capitalist countries opposed communism but in their ultimate objectives both capitalism and communism are same. There objective are to gain material gains, food, money, worldly enjoyments. In both the systems spiritual aspects of human beings have totally been denied though in the capitalists countries there are adherents of religions, they can hardly play any role in the spiritual progress of the masses.
Even in the Muslim countries the impacts of the materialistic philosophy are found dominant. Muslims deviating from the real spirit of their religion are in most cases running after worldly enjoyments, whereas they have been termed as the best nation (Khairan ummatun). Their responsibility is to guide men in the path of righteousness and also to protect them from evil doings. Unfortunately they are failing to discharge that great responsibility due to their ignorance of the spiritual aspects of their religions i.e.they remain disconnected spiritually from their Lord. Among the Muslims some sects have emerged who in the name of adherents of pure tawhid (unity of Allah) opposing are spiritualism. Many of them ignorantly claim that there is nothing spiritual in Islam. We have already referred to the Quranic verses with regard to the spiritual aspects of man. The purpose of religion is to arouse in man God consciousness. A man, as a vicegerent of Allah, must feel this Majesty’s presence every moment. The purpose of religion is to keep intact the real spirit of vice-gerency (khilafat).
Now the time has come to return to the real spirit of Islam. Islam means to surrender to Allah in totality. The lesson of that surrender has to be started from the childhood so that alien elements may not turn the infant from the true religion with which every child is born. In this connection we may mention the prophetic tradition according which every child is born in the natural religion (Deen al-Fitrah), only his parents divert him to other faiths. So, great responsibility lies with parents. Children at the state of their infancy stay with their family members and this phase of their life is very important for moulding the rest of the life. In keeping a family to the right track i.e in the way of Allah a woman’s role is more important than a man. The family solidarity and all the rightful functions of its members depend to a great extent on the devotion and sacrifice of women. In this, we may quote a view of Ayatollah Muhammad Ali Taskhiri which seems to be very correct assessment about woman.
“Sometimes we look at the woman as an active human, sometimes as mother, daughter, sister, wife and indeed a creature with special attributes. It makes her matchless and different from men, in possession of emotional power and effective natural capability, and consequently social duties.” (Mahjubah Vol. – 24, No. 11 249, Nov. 2006, P. 40)
We have already mentioned with Quranic references that man and woman are equaly in respect of piety and spirituality but for keeping a spiritual environment in a family woman have to play the pivotal role. For doing this she must have some ideals before her. We have very briefly made references to the ideal ladies of human history. Hazrat Asiya, Hazrat Mariam and Hazart Khadijah. Now we would like to turn our attention to Hazrat Fatima Zahra (S A), the beloved daughter of our Prophet (SAW). He lived a very short life but that was full of illumination and inspiration for the womenfolk. She was a caring and loving daughter, sincere wife, an affectionate mother with a great wisdom to determine the life style of her children to proper direction and also a scholar and teacher who left lessons for men and women of her future generation. She had the distinctive quality of taking right decision at the right moment. How much kind and selfless can a woman be that she handed over of her wedding dress to a needy person who approached her help.
About the relation of children with their parents and family her words are so illuminating that these appeal will till dooms day! “if you wish to remain safe from Divine wrath and displeasure and to have a long and healthy life, show kindness to your parents and family.”
There is no way of deviating from these instructions as because of the parents we are in this world. A person can not be responsible person remaining indifferent towards parents. In the name social service there are a member of persons found in the society, specially among the women, pass their time outside and least bother about the famies. These types of activities seriously damage the family bondage. Hazrat Zahra (SA) was the mother of four children. Each of them proved to be the outstanding personality in human history. As her life was very short, she found very short time to stay with them. Even then her noble qualities reflected on the characters of her children. Psychologists are now of the opinion that a child’s personality is moulded by the time he or she is 2-3 years old. From mother we learn things not as we learn in the class room. All her activities are lessons for her children if she acts as prescribed by the religion. If a mother is patient her children will learn to remain patient, if she shows full trust in Allah, children will try to follow her. If she is truthful, her children will take the lesson of truthfulness. If she is free from worldly lusts and greed’s, her children will try to get rid of these evil characteristics.
The children of Hazrat Zahra learnt generosity and forgiveness from their loving mother. It is found in the history of this noble family that whenever hungry persons did knock on the door during meal time, the blessed family used to offer the whole food to those persons and its members remained hungry. Physically this hunger might have some troubles but all these were washed away by the spiritual delights which are the food of the soul. Because of their contentment they were rewarded spiritually. [One meaning of the word ‘Zahra’ is ‘Radiant’ and she successfully radiated her children with Divine Radiation which she possessed. It is reported by Imam Hasan (AS), her eldest son. His mother used to pass the whole night standing in prayer. She prayed for the sinners and her neighbors, and for the whole Muslim community. Her personality was glorified with love, compassion, tolerance and sacrifice. To her spirituality is not for the individuals own sake but it should be directed to bring back the whole children of Adam to their original Characteristics i.e. to mould as a vice-gerent of Allah.
It is reported that Hazrat Zahra used to compose poems and recite them in the midst of her children to infused in them bravery, courage, truthfulness dignity, self-confidence and etiquette. This is an effective method of inspiring children in the adaptation of noble qualities.
In the pre-Islamic Arab society new born girls were buried alive out of shame, but with the emergence of our beloved Prophet this barbaric practice came to end. Islam not only stopped this inhuman practice but inspired parents to be affectionate to the children, especially with their daughters. The prophet (SA) taught us to love and kiss the children that could impact tremendously in the proper mental growth of the children.
He openly expressed his love and affection to his beloved daughter Fatima (SA) and always stood up and moved forward a few steps in her honour whenever she entered into room. It was his regular practice that every morning before engaging in his daily chores he enquires about her and her family.
Now a day’s time most of the social deviants emerged due to carelessness and negligence of their parents. If parents do not show love and affection to their children they feel a sense of insecurity and deprivation that ultimately result in the development of unworthy habits.
Hazrat Zahra (SA) properly took care of her household, her father inspite of these she served the sick, visited war field to serve the injured persons. She managed time to teach men and women who visited her to learn lessons about religion and life. She stood for justice and truth. She says “Allah has ordained the execution and rendering justice for the sake of putting together and harmonizations of hearts.”
Now, why should we consider Hazrat Zahra the role model for a woman in the spiritual development her family? The answerd may be found in poem composed by Allamah Iqbal of Lahore in praise of Hazrat Fatima Zahra. He says Mariam is dear because of the only relation that is the relation of Isa (Jesus). Hazrat Fatima is dear because of three relations. He is the daughter of Rahmatullil Alamin, wife of Hazrat Ali and mother of Imam Hussyn. These three relations reflect the comprehensive of her personality which is illuminating for any one who wants to follow any aspect of her life.
As a daughter she is unparallel as she took every care of her father. She was ready to sacrifice every thing for the sake retaining the true spirit of Islam propagated by her father, the prophet of Allah (SAW).
As a wife of Hazrat Ali (AS) she did not make any complain on poverty, moreover these financial troubles were to her the blessings of Allah for the spiritual development of that family, as divine love demands sacrifice. She was happy with the unique piety and spirituality of Hazrat Ali Murtaza (AS)
As a mother of Imam Husayn (AS) she deserves love and respect of all who want truth and justice must prevail in the world. Because of the Supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Husayn (AS) and his companions Islam retains it true spiritual characteristics. She built her son in such a way that all fears and tribulation could not stop him to stand for truth.
The whole world is now passing through spiritual crises. Most of the human beings have forgotten their creator whereas they are the most beloved creation of their Lord. Woman must come forward to save the decaying humanity. Woman must try to create Allah fearing and Allah- loving environment in her family, as it is the ideal abode for a child to become a spiritually advanced person. For turning the family into the direction of Allah, a woman as a daughter, as a wife and as a mother must be divinely inspired. The truest teachings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his descendants) were manifested in the life of his beloved daughter Hazrat Fatima Zahra (SA). So she will remain the role model for the women who wish to raise the members of their families to the level of vice-gerent of Allah.
