Today my blog was saved from a low-grade spam attack. Akismet detected 49 spam comments. The websites where the comments originated looked even less credible than the war-on-terror propaganda machines.
Drop the ‘A’ and Akismet has a special meaning for many who might share my cultural orientation.
I had to visit the Akismet website to know about its origins. The FAQs’ page stated:
Akismet is the brainchild of Matt Mullenweg of WordPress and his merry band of Automattic rascal hackers. The GPL plugin owes a lot to Michael Hampton and Chris J. Davis. The name can be blamed on Matt’s sister, Charleen.
Thanks again, Matt and Charleen …
Alhamdulillah! Akisment saves me from about 50 spam comments a day also, sometimes more. I now must approve comments, so that spam does not get on for even a short time. Ah, part of the price of technology.
Ya Haqq!
